Cannagather OC’s November Meet Up
November 20, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Last month’s CannaGather OC relaunch was a huge success and I want to thank everyone for the excellent feedback on how to continue getting better each month as Orange County’s cannabis community continues to grow. Tickets are live HERE, and thanks to all your helpful requests, we’ll be navigating deeper into the worlds of entrepreneurship, compliance, and medical realms over the next few months!
For those who’ve been watching the CCTT-Metrc rollout may have noticed over 400 California retail licenses have been suspended after becoming noncompliant with the platform in some way. With California cannabis’ non-history of using similar platforms or many digital tools at all, it was little surprise to many something like this would happen. Ben Curren, was more than happy to come back out and address said issues and offer tips operators may need to ensure success with transitioning and staying in alignment with the state-mandated platform.
It’s definitely my pleasure to announce joining the conversation for November will be Tikun Olam Healthcare Liaison, Orange County Native, Canna-Mom, and all-out behind-the-scenes industry powerhouse Mieko Hester-Perez. Mieko shot to fame a decade ago as one of the first cannabis advocates in the national spotlight, when a 2009 segment on Good Morning America showcased her journey to treat her son Joey’s autism and muscular dystrophy using a cannabis strain developed specifically for him. “The moment the cameras turned off I knew that my life had just changed forever in ways I never anticipated,” she says now. Mieko’s tireless advocacy for her son extended Joey’s life years beyond his doctors’ expectations; he passed one year ago at the age of 19.
With a razor-sharp focus on the medical side of cannabis, Mieko is happy to chat with our audience on healthcare-driven and science-backed initiatives most know very little about in the mainstream world we’re now so accustom to.
Rounding out our rockstar lineup of collaborators will be US Army Veteran and co-founder of Dust To Diamonds, Inc- Mariah Dodson. In 2017 Mariah and business partner, Vanessa Macias received both Medical Cannabis Cultivation and Manufacturing Licenses; making the duo the youngest license holders in the state under their company, Dust To Diamonds Incorporated- currently the majority shareholder into the development of eco-friendly, medical cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility in California City, CA.
See y’all Wednesday!
